Defence Acquisition Council approved the procurement of 83 indigenous Tejas fighter jets for IAF with the more advanced arrangement.

(Defence Acquisition Council) approved for the procurement of 83 indigenous
Tejas fighter jets for IAF (Indian Air Force) with the more advanced arrangement.
The suggestion will be forward for the approval of the CCS (Cabinet Committee
on Security).
® The
procurement of fighter jets will be the most important boost to make in India.
® The
aircraft is indigenously intended, developed and contrived by HAL and several
local vendors.
® HAL's
eighty-three fighter jets are of the more advanced Mk1A version of the
aircraft.
® The
predictable cost of the aircraft is Rs.39,000 crores.
® Earlier,
Government of India has placed an order of 40 Tejas aircraft with HAL in
initial configurations.
® With
this procurement, Indian Air Force aims to meet the requirements of its
squadron numbers and modernize its inventory with fourth-generation plus and
fifth-generation aircraft.
