Dubai has unveiled a new five-year multiple-entry visa option for Indian tourists:
In February 2024, Dubai authorities introduced a new five-year multiple-entry tourism visa policy for Indian citizens aimed at bolstering annual visitor arrivals from the primary source market and strengthening cultural-economic ties.
Flexible Extended Visa Scheme:
The new visa policy allows holders of Indian passports to enter Dubai multiple times and stay for up to 90 consecutive days. Additionally, they can extend their stay by another 90 days, with a maximum of 180 days within a single calendar year, eliminating the need for frequent reapplications.
Growing Interest from India:
Despite pandemic disruptions, tourist arrivals from India surged to 2.46 million in 2023, significantly surpassing previous levels. This marked a remarkable increase from the 1.84 million Indian tourists in 2022.
Exceeding Pre-Pandemic Levels:
The 34% year-on-year rise in Indian visitors to Dubai has even exceeded pre-COVID-19 highs, surpassing the 1.97 million tourists received in 2019, indicating a return to normal travel patterns. India remains the largest source market for international visitors.
Visa Guidelines:
Visas are issued within two to five working days upon receipt and acceptance of the service request. Holders are permitted to stay in the country for 90 days, with the option to extend for an additional 90 days, not exceeding a total of 180 days in one year. The visa allows for multiple entries and exits, providing flexibility for business and leisure travelers.
Strengthening Socio-Economic Bonds:
Dubai authorities anticipate that relaxed entry regulations will encourage greater people-to-people exchanges, reinforcing long-term connections. Streamlining business travel is also expected to expand bilateral economic cooperation into new sectors.
Alignment with Dubai Economic Agenda- D33:
This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It aims to solidify Dubai's position as a top global destination for business and leisure, as well as the preferred city for living and working.
Record Tourism Numbers:
Dubai welcomed a record number of tourists in 2023, with 17.15 million international overnight visitors throughout the year, representing a 19.4% year-on-year growth over the 14.36 million tourist arrivals in 2022.
