Government of India and the World Bank signed $120 million loan agreement


World Bank and the Government of Meghalaya, India  signed a $120 million loan project to improve the transportation sector of  Meghalaya. This is believed to aid Meghalaya to increase the growth in agriculture and tourism sectors.This agreement is reported to improve and support innovative solutions in constructing the  300 km of strategic road and  bridge. 

 

Department of Economic Affairs and Additional Secretary, Dr. C. S. Mohapatra, during the signing of the agreement said that this will help the people of  Meghalaya in achieving economic development and growth. He also stated that the road infrastructure of Meghalaya will drastically improve and road accidents will decline in the near future. Dr. C S Mohapatra and Mr. Hideki Mori signed the agreement. This agreement will also support the “Restart Meghalaya Mission.
