Minister Recites Bharathiyar’s Poetic Lines
Shri
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India addressed the International Bharathi
Festival on 11 December 2020 via video conferencing. PM paid his tribute to
Bharathiyar on his birth anniversary. The Vanavil Cultural Centre organised the
International Bharathi Festival to commemorate Bharathiyar’s 138th birth anniversary. This year, Bharathi Award was presented
to Shri Seeni Viswanathan, a scholar of Bharathiyar. The Prime Minister conveyed
his greetings to the scholar for receiving the award.
During the occasion, Shri Narendra Modi spoke in praise of Subramanya Bharathiyar and said that he was a great poet, editor, journalist, writer, freedom fighter and a humanist all rolled into one. He added on saying that Bharathiyar’s poems are words of enlightenment and therefore, he encouraged the youth of the nation to read his poems. The Prime Minister recited a few lines of Bharathiyar’s poems on the special occasion which was like the icing on the cake.
