FSSAI, NASSCOM Foundation partner to develop an application to prevent food wastage.


To avoid food waste, the FSSAI food regulator and the Nasscom Foundation have come jointly to develop an application and establish a 24x7 helpline number to connect donors with surplus food to food sharing organizations.

India will soon have access to a common helpline and a mobile application 'Food donation in India' to donate food to those in need. FSSAI and the NASSCOM Foundation today signed communication of understanding to jointly build a technological platform for food donation in India, FSSAI said in a declaration.

FSSAI CEO Pawan Agarwal said that this would definitely give appreciation to the organization concerned in the distribution of surplus food and help reduce food waste in the country by donating food.

Ashok Pamidi, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation said teamwork is a significant step in the direction of leveraging tech for solutions and the foundation hopes more such actions in the future.
