Long awaiting announcement for UPSC aspirants, that UPSC Commission has released official dates to conduct Preliminary Examination on 4th October 2020.
The Commission has made a special announcement to UPSC aspirants on 5th Jun 2020 that the examination for the preliminary stage will be conducted by the Commission on 4th October 2020 and the mains examination will be on 8th January 2020. Recently, The UPSC commission has analyzed the situation after the second phase of the nation-wide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking notice of the extension of restrictions, the Commission decided that it will not be possible to resume examinations and interviews for the present. Therefore the commission will conduct the Preliminary examination on 4th October 2020 and the mains examination will be held on January 8, 2021.

A report by The Indian Express said that “the examination was earlier scheduled for 31 May but was postponed due to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.”
The UPSC has recently mentioned that it will provide at least 30 days notice between the announcement of the new schedule and exam dates so that candidates can be fully prepared for the test.
Usually, This all India Civil Service Examination will be conducted in three successive stages as
i) Prelims - A Objective type exam, this stage is a selection of candidates for mains examination ii) Mains – A Descriptive type exam, This stage is a selection of the candidate for an interview, iii) Interview – it’s a final stage of the test to the candidate. UPSC commission will appoints a candidate for various services and posts based on their marks scored in mains and interview levels.
UPSC commission will be conducting the exam for 796 vacancies this year, out of which more than 10 lakes candidates have been registered on the commission’s website.
