the Indian Navy
October 30, 2023, saw the launch of "DSC A 21," the second ship in the Diving
Support Craft (DSC) project, marking a momentous occasion for the Indian Navy.
This project, which is a partnership with Kolkata, West Bengal-based M/s
Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), is an important advancement for India's
maritime capabilities.

Underwater Activities
These Diving Support Craft (DSC) are specifically designed to
carry out dive operations in coastal seas and harbors. With their cutting-edge
diving gear, they will improve the Indian Navy's underwater capabilities. The boats
are about 300 tons in displacement and have a catamaran hull design.
Agreement and Native
American Design
On February 12, 2021, M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL)
and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) formally signed a contract for the
construction of five Diving Support Craft (DSC). These ships, which abide by
the pertinent Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping
(IRS), are evidence of India's dedication to the "Make in India"
campaign.
Hydrodynamic
Superiority
The ships were subjected to extensive hydrodynamic analysis
and model testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in
Visakhapatnam throughout the design process. This further cemented the vessels'
appropriateness for Indian Navy missions by guaranteeing their best performance
in a variety of underwater conditions.
