unicorn, introduces its Chatbot.
Krutrim, an AI startup founded by
Bhavish Aggarwal, the creator of Ola, has introduced a new AI chatbot in public
beta, resembling OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
India’s First AI Unicorn:
This launch follows Krutrim's
announcement of a $50 million funding at a $1 billion valuation, making it
India’s inaugural unicorn startup in 2024. The company claims to be the
country's pioneer AI unicorn.
AI Model Features:
Krutrim
revealed its AI models last December, unveiling its AI chatbot named Krutrim.
The startup’s AI models comprehend over 20 Indian languages and generate text
in 10 Indian languages, such as Bengali, Tamil,Malayalam, Gujarati, and
Marathi. An enhanced version, Krutrim Pro, is set to launch in Q4 FY24.
Krutrim’s Goals:
Krutrim, meaning 'artificial' in
Sanskrit, will be available in two variants: Krutrim, trained on 2 trillion
tokens and unique datasets, and the more advanced Krutrim Pro, scheduled for
release next quarter, providing advanced problem-solving and task execution
abilities
Krutrim Pro, anticipated in Q4
FY24, will be multimodal, capable of handling text, audio, image, and video
simultaneously, along with expanded knowledge and advanced problem-solving
skills.
Future Plans:
The startup aims to establish AI
infrastructure, develop indigenous data centers, and venture into
server-computing, edge-computing, and supercomputers. It is also exploring the
production of AI-optimized silicon chips.
India’s 2023 Unicorns:
In December 2023, Fintech firm InCred achieved a valuation of over $1 billion, becoming India’s latest unicorn. It followed Zepto, the grocery delivery e-commerce app, as the second unicorn of the year. In 2023, only two companies attained unicorn status.
