RE-HAB PROJECT:
· This Re-Hab project was launched by the Assam Government on December 06, 2021.
· The aim of this project is to reduce the Human – Elephant conflicts.
· The key Species of this programme is Bee. That is, the human and elephant conflict was to be reduced by using Bees.
COURSE OF THE PROJECT:
· In this project lot of “bee fences” will be created near the conflicted areas.
· These bees dissuade the elephants from the human places without harming them.
· Comparing to other resolving methods, this method is very cost effective and efficient.
· On the Other hand, It has other Economical benefits also. It improves the honey production and increases the income of the farmers.
· It will also help to tackle the other environmental problems, and improves the bio-diversity, and helps to reduce the climate change.
HOW DOES THE PROJECT WORK?
· Under this project, the amount of bee boxes has to be placed in the human and forest adjacent places.
· Almost 15 to 20 bee boxes had to be placed in one region.
· Reason for this technique is, the buzz of the bees irritates the elephants most.
· This project will be implemented by Khadi and Village Industries Commission. It is a Statutory body established by Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act of 1956.
