The scholarship is the top award given to artists in the arts for their unique contributions to the art form. The scholarship is rare and prestigious, with up to 40 recipients at a time.

Importance of the Academy:

Since its inception in 1952, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award has been a beacon of light and achievement in the arts. These awards not only recognize recipients' valuable work, but also recognize their continued personal service to their projects.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi Scholarship is the most prestigious recognition bestowed by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, regardless of educational background, ethnicity, caste, creed, religion, or gender. The criteria state that individuals under the age of 50 are generally not eligible for this award. Recommendations are sought from current peers and members of the Academic Affairs Committee.

Academic Scholarship Award Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Hundred Thousand), the value of the scholarship is Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh).

In addition to cash rewards, recipients will also be presented with Tamrapatra and Angavastram as tokens of their accomplishment.
