Swiggy partners with IRCTC to provide food to Indian
Railways
To promote passenger travel, online food ordering and
delivery platform, Swiggy has partnered with Indian
Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRTCTC) to provide enhanced
services - Book meals in trains . The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was
signed on March 5, 2024 by IRCTC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sanjay
Kumar Jain and Swiggy Food Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor in the presence of
senior leaders of the two organizations.
Pilot launch and expansion
Initially, the service will start at four railway stations
(Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Vijaya Vada) from March 12, 2024. In
the coming weeks, the service is planned to be expanded to 59 city stations
across the country, offering passengers a variety of dining options during
their journey.
Travel Solutions
One of the biggest challenges faced by passengers on
long-distance trains is the limited variety of food options available to them
on train services. Through this partnership, Swiggy aims to solve this
challenge by delivering best-in-class hot food directly to passengers' seats
through many of its partners' restaurants. This measure is expected to
transform train travel, making it more comfortable and enjoyable for
passengers.

Meal and Service Agreement

Swiggy customer support representatives will be trained on problem solving, customer satisfaction and cancellation policies to provide a smooth and hassle-free experience to passengers. These support representatives will also communicate with restaurants and delivery personnel depending on the pattern and nature of customer issues that may arise.
